AMP1 is equipped with a speaker simulation at the REC OUT socket: an elaborate, 7-stage filter circuit simulates the sound character of a guitar cabinet. For ultra-compact applications, this feature can be used to send a good direct signal to a mixer or headphones without the use of a guitar cabinet or external speaker simulation.

Nowadays, speaker simulations are becoming more and more common in the form of either an IR loader (e.g. BluGuitar BluBOX VSC) or from computer software or a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). Since only a few of these applications can be fed with an amplified power amp signal, the option of being able to switch off the speaker simulation at the REC OUT in order to pick up a signal at microphone or line level is useful for such applications.

Direct signal without speaker simulation

With the AMP1 Iridium Edition, you can switch off the speaker simulation at the REC OUT. But there is also a workaround for the AMP1 Silver Edition and the AMP1 Mercury Edition, with which you can send a line signal to a DAW or a mixer:

AMP1 Iridium Edition

With the AMP1 Iridium Edition you can switch off the speaker simulation at the REC OUT. Make sure that the AMP1 Iridium Edition is in normal mode (Direct Access Mode) and that neither a REMOTE1 or MIDI1 are connected to the footswitch socket. Hold down the middle [BOOST] foot switch. As soon as it has flashed once, you can switch the loudspeaker simulation on and off with the left foot switch while you continue to hold down the middle foot switch. This global setting is retained even after the device is restarted - it is not necessary to save the setting.

AMP1 Mercury Edition/Silver Edition

With the AMP1 Mercury Edition and AMP1 Silver Edition, the speaker simulation cannot be switched off at the REC OUT. To use the unfiltered output stage signal of the AMP1, please connect a DI box with PAD function (e.g. -20dB) to one of the two SPEAKER OUTs and send this signal to your interface/mixer/DAW.
