You can use the integrated foot switches of your AMP1 in two ways, because AMP1 offers you two different modes: Direct Access Mode and Preset Mode .

Direct Access Mode (or Standard Mode)

In Direct Access Mode - or Standard Mode - the left foot switch always switches between the CLEAN and OVERDRIVE channels, the middle foot switch switches the BOOST on and off, and the right foot switch toggles the amp's built-in REVERB on and off.

Preset mode: assign your favorite sounds to the foot switches!

In Preset Mode, you can save any combination of channel selection (CLEAN, VINTAGE, CLASSIC, MODERN), BOOST (on/off) and REVERB (on/off) on each of the three foot switches. The settings are saved even after you switch the AMP1 off.

The following settings are programmed at the factory:

Preset Mode is extremely useful if you want to work without the REMOTE1 MIDI controller and without an additional MIDI board, and/or if you only need three core sounds.

In Preset Mode and in combination with an external 2-way foot switch, you even have access to all four of the AMP1's channels, plus the BOOST - more on that here: AMP1 + external foot switch - How to access all 4 channels? ‍

This is how the programming of presets works

You create the three sounds for Preset Mode while in AMP1's Direct Access Mode. Only when the sounds have been programmed can the AMP1 be switched to Preset Mode, where the sounds can then be called up.

If you want to change the sounds programmed at the factory, first set your desired sound in Direct Access Mode, for example VINTAGE with BOOST and REVERB. Next, hold down the right foot switch [REVERB] for three seconds, until the switch flashes. Then press one of the three foot switches to store the currently set sound to this foot switch. You can then create two more sounds in the same way and assign them to the other two foot switches.

In order to call up these sounds later, you will need to activate AMP1's Preset Mode.

How to activate Preset Mode

To call up your sounds created in Direct Access Mode, you have to switch the AMP1 to Preset Mode. First, switch off your AMP1. Then, switch the AMP1 back on while holding down the REVERB foot switch. You are now in Preset Mode, and the three foot switches are assigned the settings previously saved to them. Note that the LEDs on the foot switches now indicate the active sound functions, and not the active foot switch.

To switch back your AMP1 back to Standard Mode, switch the AMP1 off, and then switch it on again with the REVERB foot switch held down.

Bonus: 4 channels and BOOST switchable

You can also use the CLEAN/OVERDRIVE switch function in Preset Mode - with the help of a standard double (2-button) foot switch - to call up an additional clean sound. Learn how to do that here:
