Problems when switching - do I have a defective footswitch?
If you're having trouble switching your AMP1, it could be for a variety of reasons, depending on what the problem is. Therefore, we must first clarify how the problem appears:
-
The switches work, but don't switch what they are supposed to (Clean/Overdrive, Boost on/off, Reverb on/off).
-
The switch gets stuck mechanically.
-
Nothing is switched when the switches are operated.
-
When pressing BOOST, the REVERB starts blinking, but nothing is switched.

In that case your AMP1 is probably in Preset Mode. You can find all the relevant information about this here: Direct Access Mode and Preset Mode
In this case, the switches themselves are not the problem. Rather, two things come together here:
- In die Zwischenräume zwischen Kunststoffeinfassung und Schalter ist Schmutz gekommen.
- Der Rand der Öffnung im Druckgussgehäuse, in der die Einfassung sitzt, hat evtl. einen ganz kleinen Grat, der die Einfassung ganz leicht zusammendrückt. Kommt nun Dreck in die Zwischenräume zwischen Fassung und Schalter, bleiben die Schalter hängen.
You can remedy this by lifting the relevant switch and socket out of the housing. You can easily get under the plastic frame with a knife or something similar. Please do not use a knife that is too sharp (carpet knife or similar) as you could damage the die-cast housing. Then please turn the AMP1 upside down (so that no burr falls into the housing) and file the fine burr out of the opening with a file or knife, as in the following video:
If you want, you can then disassemble and clean the switches and, if necessary, spray in dry lubricant spray. Normally, however, this is not necessary. With the burr filed away, the switch itself will have enough play that the dirt will no longer cause the switch to stick.
Just put the switch back in and (hopefully) you're done! :)

That explains why the REVERB is flashing and nothing is switching. In order to solve the problem, the switch must be made operable again. In fact, the switch itself is not the problem at all. Rather, two things come together here:
