This BluGPrint captures the fundamental character of classic Plexi amplifiers. — So if you’re chasing that unmistakable Plexi roar, Mercury VINTAGE delivers the goods.
In my collection, I own numerous 50W and 100W Plexis, each with its own wildly different personality. However, the Vintage channel of the AMP1 represents, for me, the essential core of these amplifiers.
As with the clean channel, the intensity of the treble bleed capacitor can be continuously adjusted via the X-CONTROL. The real magic, though, lies in the POWERDRIVE control, which allows you to shape the power amp behavior precisely:
- Left to mid: tight rhythm sounds with definition
- Mid to full right: more power amp distortion, a mid-focused, creamy tone for singing leads
The Mercury VINTAGE is a true all-rounder for all Plexi players, especially those, who want authentic British crunch with modern flexibility.
Additional Plexi BluGPrints in the library, worth exploring:
- Plexi 45 (1965, KT66) - with tube rectifier, ideal for glassy cleans and bluesy sounds.
- Plexi 50 (1969, 5881) - Thomas Blug’s personal favorite Plexi for decades.
- Plexi 50 (1968, EL34) - no-compromise rock amplifier— with a raw and unapologetic rock tone.
- Thomas’ Ultra Plexi - a purely virtual Plexi tailored to Thomas’ personal taste – inspired by a modified 100W Plexi.
