Differences between the '61 Masterbuilt and the Vintage V6MRTBG Thomas Blug Signature model
Both the BluGuitar '61 Masterbuilt and the V6MRTBG Thomas Blug Signature Guitar by Vintage are inspired by Thomas's '61 Fender Stratocaster. So the question about the differences between the two guitars is quite justified!
The Vintage V6MRTBG has the features and modifications that Thomas made on his '61 Strat (such as the dummy coil to reduce background noise and the treble bleed capacitor in the volume pot), but is essentially a low-budget guitar. It is machined in the Far East and uses hardware and pickups from Wilkinson's budget line.
As the name suggests, the BluGuitar '61 Masterbuilt is hand-made. Above all, the aging is carried out in Germany with great attention to detail. Only very high-quality woods are used, which really authentically reflect the character of the original '61 guitars.
Trevor Wilkinson developed new hardware for the '61 Masterbuilt that uses cold-rolled steel with shallow-drilled holes for the ball ends in the vibrato block. The bridge plate is extremely robust and hard. The string riders are also as close as possible to the original parts.
For the ultimate tone, Andreas Kloppmann and Thomas Blug also developed a special pickup set for this guitar.
So, while the Vintage V6MRTBG is a guitar that brings the features of Thomas' '61 Strat into the budget class, the BluGuitar '61 Masterbuilt is a guitar designed by Thomas Blug and handcrafted with the finest materials in the ultimate expansion stage - a true "Masterbuilt" in every sense of the word.
